Blindfolds were required dress for AOA members who attended a special luncheon hosted by Beta Sigma Kappa at the 50th Annual Congress of the American Optometric Association in Atlantic City, 1947.
The fraternity’s president, Dr. Harry E. Pine, hoped the dining experience would build a greater appreciation for eyesight, a greater understanding of vision loss, and a greater determination to “fulfill our duties as optometrists.”
