
AOA Washington Office Looking to Fill Paid Intern Slot

The Experience: Contribute to optometry and add valuable experience to your resume by applying for the summer student internship at the Washington Office (WO) located in Alexandria, VA!
The Qualifications: Internship is open to all first, second and third year optometry students.
The Time Commitment: 8 – 12 weeks during summer break depending upon selected student’s availability.
The Compensation: Weekly salary of $300. AOA provides round-trip coach airline transportation (or mileage to and from Alexandria, VA), plus any travel expenses undertaken during internship on behalf of AOA.
The Work: The Washington Office (WO) intern will assist with legislative advocacy including lobbying members of Congress and their staff, as well as grassroots and political outreach. Intern will travel to Optometry’s Meetingtm and take part in grassroots efforts.
Past interns have had procedures adopted by AOA departments and work published in AOA publications and on AOA.org. Several have gone on to leadership positions in organized optometry on the local, state and national level.
